It all started in 1996 when Lisa began baking and creating gourmet cakes out of a commercial kitchen in her house in SE Iowa. The busines grew so rapidly that husband, Larry had to join in and help with baking and going on deliveries. It soon became apparent after two years that either they  had to stop what they were doing due to lack of space or expand. They decided to open a full service bakery on the town square and call it Yummy's. They made over 70 different items, including french eclairs and pastries, brownies, cookies, gourmet cake and don't forget the cinnamon buns.

After much success, (people were known to drive 2 hours for one of their gourmet cakes), they decided to go west when their children graduated from high school. They sold the bakery, packed up the family and moved to Ashland, Oregon where they established their first YUMMYKAKE in October of 2002. One year later they opened a second location in Medford and have since become southern Oregon's largest "cakery".
